چکیده

The random walk particle tracking method has become an important tool for the uncertainty assessment of solute transport models due to its computational efficiency and the non-existence of numerical dispersion. Yet, in highly heterogeneous aquifers the smoothness assumption of the velocity field, requisite for a correct solution of the random walk equations, may not hold anymore. Three different numerical methods to overcome this problem are numerically evaluated. The results demonstrate that in an aquifer with an isotropic spatial correlation, and following a multi-Gaussian random function with a small connectivity of extreme values, all techniques are able to model solute transport correctly, even for a hydraulic conductivity variance of σlnK = 4.

An efficient method of random walk particle tracking: accuracy and resolution

This paper describes an efficient random walk particle tracking (RWPT) method for finite element models in two dimensions. The method for interpolation of global node based velocities for unstructured grids and the implementation of the RWPT are described. The RWPT method is verified using published results of particle path lines to verify the calculation of the velocity field. RWPT transport r...

An Efficient Target Tracking Algorithm Based on Particle Filter and Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, we propose an efficient hybrid Particle Filter (PF) algorithm for video tracking by employing a genetic algorithm to solve the sample impoverishment problem. In the presented method, the object to be tracked is selected by a rectangular window inside which a few numbers of particles are scattered. The particles’ weights are calculated based on the similarity between feature vecto...

Pareto design of fuzzy tracking control based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm for a walking robot in the lateral plane on slope

Many researchers have controlled and analyzed biped robots that walk in the sagittal plane. Nevertheless, walking robots require the capability to walk merely laterally, when they are faced with the obstacles such as a wall. In walking robot field, both nonlinearity of the dynamic equations and also having a tracking system cause an effective control has to be utilized to address these problems...
